Roland DG Launches the VersaSTUDIO BF-16: The UV Flatbed Printer Designed to Maximise Efficiency and ROI

March 27, 2025 – Roland DG, a leading manufacturer of wide-format inkjet printers and printer/cutters worldwide, is excited to announce the addition of the BF-16 UV flatbed printer to its VersaSTUDIO lineup of compact, easy-to-use, and affordable desktop products. Using inks that are cured by a UV-LED lamp, the BF-16 is capable of quickly customizing a variety of highly profitable items such as phone cases, art canvases, and cosmetic items with vibrant designs on-demand.

“Despite its compact size, the BF-16 supports a print area up to A3 size and 90 mm in height”, said Encarna Luque, Product Manager for Roland DG EMEA. “It uses the same high-definition printheads and UV inks as our wide-format printers to print directly on a wide range of materials, from soft fabrics and leather to hard wood and plastics. In addition to vivid full-colour printing with CMYK + White inks, you can add special effects such as gloss finishes and realistic textures including 3D embossing effects with Gloss ink”

The BF-16 delivers impressive productivity, capable of simultaneous two-layer printing with White and CMYK inks, as well as three-layer printing with White, CMYK, and Gloss. In CMYK standard mode, it achieves speeds of up to 2.08m²/h—fast enough to produce approximately 180 phone cases per hour when printing in CMYK Standard mode.

Despite its high print quality and efficiency, the BF-16 remains accessible for first-time users with a streamlined, user-friendly design. Its cost-effective ink pricing and efficient ink delivery system minimise ink consumption while maintaining exceptional image quality, ensuring a more profitable and sustainable operation.

The BF-16 comes with VersaWorks 7, Roland DG’s latest RIP software, designed for effortless professional-quality printing. Its intuitive interface simplifies operations, making high-quality results accessible to everyone. Key features include an advanced colour plate generation tool that creates White and Gloss layer data with a single click, streamlining workflow and improving efficiency. With its user-friendly design, VersaWorks 7 helps minimise errors and reduce stress, ensuring a smoother, more productive printing experience.
