Roland DG launches new DGXPRESS ER- 642 Eco-Solvent Inkjet Printer
July 12, 2023 – Roland DG, the leading manufacturer of wide-format inkjet printers and printer/cutters worldwide, today announced the launch of the ER-642, a new 64” eco-solvent printer in the DGXPRESS series of wide-format inkjet printers.
High performance at a competitive price
The new printer combines a number of features to improve working efficiency. New larger-size printheads which can eject finer ink droplets at higher density, and newly developed high-speed data control technology make sure that the ER-642 produces high-quality vivid colours and is productive, giving speeds of over 46.8 m2/h in 900 x 600 dpi mode for PVC printing and 76.1 m2/h in 600 x 1200 dpi mode for banner printing.
Alongside this, Roland DG’s newly designed adjustable ‘take-up system’ (included in the ER-642), gives users the ability to wind up printed material automatically and manage unmanned production with maximum efficiency. The system includes a convenient front-mounted take-up roller and an advanced tension-controlled take-up unit for optimum media feeding and tracking, giving back valuable labour hours to print shops whilst facilitating longer monitored runs. The take-up unit includes a perforated sheet cutter that separates media along perforations between print jobs.
In addition, customers can now easily replace caps, wipers, wiper cleaners, and other items around the printhead that previously required replacement by service personnel, minimising downtime.
“By painstakingly pursuing the ultimate balance between image quality and speed in a combination of printhead ejection control, ink composition, and printer mechanisms, we made it possible to output beautiful graphics with vivid colours, neutral greys, and smooth gradations even during high-speed production,” said Tony Miller, President of Roland DG’s Global Sales and Marketing Division. In addition, we were able to make the product more cost-effective by adopting our latest printer platform with meticulously standardised parts and by narrowing essential functions.
Software to match the hardware
The ER-642 comes equipped with VersaWorks 6 professional RIP software, offering a wide range of features to support output operations. It also comes Roland DG Connect App ready —giving operators real-time access to important data about print jobs as well as their business. The on-demand data enables them to save on print runs and alter the structure of their runs for maximum efficiency. Adding to the many cost-saving benefits of the range.
Growing demand for signage
“In March 2023, we launched the DGXPRESS brand focused on delivering high productivity with aggressive pricing while maintaining the print quality and reliability for which Roland DG’s printers are renowned to limited markets* which have a growing demand for signage,” said Miller,. “Initially, we introduced two UV ink models, and today, we are expanding our lineup with a new 64” eco-solvent model, the ER-642.”
