Eelan orders Europe's first Roland TrueVIS VG-640 after love at first sight
Eelan
Described as 'a design bureau with its own repro' by owner Joris Langedijk, Eelan creates 90 per cent of its designs itself. It bought its first Roland printer nine years ago to take the step from copy shop to sign making, and is also equipped with industrial black and white and colour printers for everyday work.
However, in response to very high demand for sign and photo print work, Eelan visited FESPA Digital in Amsterdam where the TrueVIS VG was being shown for the first time. There Joris witnessed the quality, which he says is "really very good".
"I fell in love with it instantly," he says.
"We did not intend to make a purchase at the trade fair. We just wanted to have a look. But we were convinced after the demo. Making a decision at the trade fair was the quickest way to get our hands on this new machine. So I just did it. And I haven't regretted it for a single moment."
This new, faster machine meets all the quality requirements for Eelan's valued clients.
Joris explains: "For our customers such as photographers we make limited prints, which have to be top quality. With TrueVIS this quality with deep black, fine nuances and great light colours came within our reach."
Joris adds that Eelan marked the installation by sharing photographs on social media – much like a new parent.
"We celebrated the arrival of the new printer two weeks after the trade fair by eating beschuit met muisjes [biscuits with sprinkles], which is Dutch tradition when a baby is born. We started printing and I immediately called a number of customers to show the quality."
As well as photography Eelan offers a full design and print service, from business cards to vehicle wraps, making life easy for its customers. But it's about more than customer satisfaction, as Joris explains: "Customers are always happy when they leave. And receiving such beauty makes you happy."
