UV Printer Brings Unique Customer Experience to Roland Store Tokyo

Roland Corporation’s first directly managed store opened in October 2023 in Japan, located in Harajuku, Tokyo. The store allows visitors to experience the history and world of the Roland brand through displays of the latest electronic instruments and special store decorations with lighting and images including a live stage. It attracts many music fans from Japan and around the world. For the "808 Day" in August 2024, a celebration of the legendary TR-808 rhythm machine, the store offered a name-printing service on music keychains using a BD-8 UV printer wrapped in the 808 design.

The TR-808 is one of our company’s most popular and special products, which is still loved by many fans, even more than 40 years after its release. This was the first time that 808 DAY was held at Roland Store Tokyo, and we were able to provide a special experience unique to a physical store using Roland DG’s BD-8, which was enjoyed by many visitors. The music keychains, printed with the customer’s name on the spot, were popular beyond our expectations so that all of the planned 150 keychains were distributed in just three days from the event’s start. We then quickly implemented the printing of mini canvases with 808 designs. We were able to respond flexibly to this unexpected situation by taking advantage of the BD-8’s ability to print on a wide variety of items and were consequently able to offer a high value-added service to our customers.

  • The Roland Store Tokyo official social media account received the highest number of impressions in its history, and the number of followers increased sharply. In addition, many posts were seen on other social media with the hashtags #808day and #RolandStoreTokyo.
